Steps from the beach and Santa Monica Pier, this contemporary concrete & glass house is our client’s favorite weekend retreat. A prolific tech entrepreneur, this client engaged our team to design this space after meeting Hanna at a start-up conference. With a heavy weekday schedule, this house needed to be highly functional yet comfortable, modern yet warm, while standing up to natural deterioration from proximity to the ocean’s elements.
Once they discovered their joint passion for sustainable living, he and Hanna collaborated on a design concept that would seamlessly integrate indoor & outdoor living with clean architectural windows & openings, a smart home system, honey oak ceilings, monolithic concrete floors, contemporary art including Keith Haring’s late works, a Marmol Radziner dining set, anchored with chunky hand-knotted wool rugs. The result is an environment that is rooted in history, sophisticated yet approachable, much like this client’s personality.
