Backsplash Design - Title

When it comes to kitchen backsplashes, there are plenty of options out there. From tile, to glass, metal, and more, it can be hard to choose a material that’s right for your space and your particular cooking needs. In this post, we dive into various backsplash material options for your consideration when doing your next remodel.

Sequins

Sequins are a great way to add a little bit of glam and shine to any room. They can be used in kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living rooms, and other spaces. They’re also a very versatile design element: you can use them on backsplashes or countertops; they can be applied as tiles or mosaics; they can even be glued onto walls for an eye-catching effect.

Foil

When you’re considering a backsplash for your kitchen, you may think that stainless steel is the best choice. It’s durable, it looks great and it will last for years to come. But what if you want something more? A material like a tile or glass is too permanent for your tastes? Foil wallpaper is an excellent alternative. It’s easy to apply and remove without damaging your walls at all; unlike tiles, which would have to be removed before moving into a new home. When you’re ready to move on from foil paper in favor of something else (perhaps wood paneling?), simply peel off any remaining adhesive residue and toss away your old paper. No need for expensive labor here; just some elbow grease will do the trick nicely. Also, consider its affordability: not only does foil cost less than other types of wall coverings such as ceramic tile do but it requires fewer man hours during installation time compared with installing real bricks onto drywall.

Metal

Metal is a popular choice for backsplashes because it can be used to create so many different looks. Metal looks great in both modern and traditional kitchens, and can even add an industrial vibe. No matter what style of kitchen you have, there’s a way to incorporate metal into your design scheme that will work for you. Here are some ways metal can be used:

  • To create an industrial look – A trowel-textured paint job on the wall behind your stove or sink will give off that “rustic” feel without being too rustic-looking (maybe?). This might not be for everyone, but it’s definitely worth trying out if you’re looking for something adventurous.
  • To create a more rustic look – If you’re going with a more rugged aesthetic in your kitchen space—maybe some farmhouse decorating touches here and there—a copper backsplash would be perfect! Just make sure not to overdo it with this one; otherwise, your neighbors may start calling social services on account of neglecting their responsibilities as responsible adults living within society’s boundaries (and they’d probably do well taking into account the fact that most people don’t want their homes filled with excessive amounts of copper).

Stone

Stone is a durable material that can be used on walls or floors. It can be used in a kitchen, bathroom, or both. The look of stone is versatile and complements any design style or decorating theme. You can create a contemporary look with polished granite countertops and subway tile backsplashes; while rustic cabinetry paired with slate flooring makes for a timeless country kitchen. Stone backsplashes are ideal for high-traffic areas like kitchens because they’re easy to clean and maintain. They also help protect the wall behind them against stains caused by water spills, food splatters, and heat damage from hot pots/pans being placed right up against the stovetop burners.

Backsplash Design - Glass

Glass

Glass backsplashes are one of the most popular materials used today. Glass is known for its natural beauty and ability to complement the surrounding space. As a result, many homeowners choose glass as their backsplash material because it adds elegance to any design. Glass is also an ideal choice for those looking for a unified look between cabinets and countertops. It can be used as either a solid color or patterned tile so you can customize your kitchen with ease. Glass backsplashes also add visual depth that makes every room feel larger than it really is. The best part? They’re easy on the eyes—and even easier to clean up after dinner parties.

Backsplash Design - Wood

Beadboard

Beadboard is a type of paneling made out of thin rectangular wood strips. It’s long been used for decoration, but it can also be used to cover imperfections in walls and even as a backsplash. Beadboard can be painted or stained, and it’s easy to install with nails or glue. The best way to install beadboard is to use a hammer and nails or screws. You can also use glue, but that’s not as strong and secure as nailing or screwing the boards in place.

Pressed Tin

Pressed tin is a style of decorative wall or ceiling panel. It is made by pressing a patterned heavy metal sheet into a mold, which can be made of wood or metal. The result is an embossed surface that resembles sheet metal, but it’s actually pressed paper. The design may be printed on paper beforehand and then glued to the substrate, or transferred directly to the substrate using rubber stamps. Pressed tin was invented in England in 1869 by William Bryson (1827-1908) of Birmingham and patented in 1870 as “metal worked designs.” The application and removal process for pressed tin panels has been described as similar to wallpaper paste-up: “First an artist draws up the pattern and makes templates for each panel; these are then transferred onto a thin sheet of soft lead with grease pencils… After this stage comes cutting out all the panels by hand from sheets about 2mm thick; these are quite hard work because they must be cut accurately so that no overlapping occurs when the assembly takes place later on.”

Subway Tile

Subway tile is a classic backsplash design. It has been used for years and still looks great, but what makes it so popular?

  • It’s durable and easy to clean – The color of subway tile is baked into the glaze, so it will not fade or peel over time. This makes it a good choice for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and other highly-used areas of your home.
  • You can choose how much or how little you want – Subway tiles come in several different colors, shapes, and sizes as well as materials like porcelain and glass for an even more customized look that fits your home’s design style perfectly.
